This Weekend’s Can’t Miss Event: First Midwest Bank Half Marathon & 10k
The 6th annual First Midwest Bank Half Marathon will kick off at 7:30 a.m. outside the Palos Heights Village Hall at Route 83 & 76th Avenue. Over 1,500 runners will race down Route 83 in the half marathon and new 10K. The out and back course is flat, and fast, taking runners through Palos Heights, Palos Park and the Cook County Forest Preserves. This race received the “Runners Choice” Circuit Race and “Race of the Year” honors from the Chicago Area Runners Association in 2011 and a 2010 Governor’s Hometown Award.Proceeds will benefit American Cancer Society for Prostate Cancer and Research, The South West Special Recreation Association and Lake Katherine Nature Center & Botanic Gardens.
